LA RAIZ
SEPT 6TH - OCTOBER 30TH
LA Raíz
Strike-Slip Gallery is proud to present La Raíz a group show exhibition curated by Andy Antezana, on view from Sept 11th to October 30th .
La Raíz is a group exhibition celebrating Latine cultural pride and identity in the U.S., curated at Strike Slip Gallery. The show brings together five Bay Area artists. Victor Reyes, Héctor Muñoz-Guzmán, Esteban Raheem Abdul Raheem Samayoa, Fernanda Martinez, and Miguel Arzabe each of whom uses their practice as a space to reflect on identity, memory, and heritage.
The exhibition honors artists who stay rooted in their cultural traditions while expanding the conversation around what it means to be Latine today. From weaving techniques passed down by Bolivian cholitas to the lived experiences of first- and second-generation Latine artists navigating identity in the U.S., La Raíz highlights the wide range of perspectives that shape Latine identity and expression.
Through painting, weaving, and mixed-media works, the artists explore themes of heritage, reclamation, and personal history. Each artist brings a unique voice to the exhibition, yet together, their works create a vivid portrait of what it means to remain grounded in one’s roots while continuing to grow and evolve, both individually and as a community.
